Ok, just fitted the new Pirelli GTS tyres to my GTS 250, 120x70x12 front, 140x70x12 rear, the Heidenau K61s on the original rims are still very good from last July! BUT I thought Id measure the REAR tyres, Heidenau K61, REAR 130x70x12 measured 60 and a half inches around, the Pirelli GTS 24, 140x70x12 measures 61 and a half inches! should have measured my mate Twistys 130x70x12 Pirelli GTS, get back to you on this,. but kinda shocked me as the 2 GTS tyers when together looked massively different

 Bugger! got the wheels n tyres on as I said previously, finished early today so took it out for a blast up the M55, got to my mates house where he noticed the valve had been hitting the swing arm! so its back in bits until a new shorter valve is fitted tomorrow, thing is, if that valve had let go on the Motorway at, er, 70mph! doesnt bear thinkin about :auto-ambulance:

It happened to me on the M1 a couple of years ago
I was loaded up for a tour of Scotland with 4 other GTSOC members.
Luckily it wasn't that bad. I was doing 80 in the outside lane. At first I thought it was the wind making me weave about the motorway, so I slowed down into the middle lane & it still felt wrong. So I pulled over to the hard shoulder to find it was a flat tyre.
I had put the fancy aluminium valve caps on a few days before & the rear one had been ripped off by the swing arm
I think having 14" wheels saved me from coming off :D

A good case for using tyre sealant
Most people don't know they have had a puncture until they change their tyres & find nails etc. embeded in them.

i'd agree with chev of the puncture preventer, slime or ultraseal 8-)

AND for when the piuncture is too much for the sealant i carry this:-

CARGOL REPAIR KIT

if you have ultraseal or slime fitted then the normal kits AA etc use to seal punctures won't work as the inside of the tyre is too slippery for the glue to set, these screw in kits overcome that 8-)

obviously any repair is just enough to see you ride carefully to a place where you can have the tyre replaced or repaired professionally but at least it will get you moving again 8-)

must've been more of a hole than the slime could handle then, i've had the same myself, hence now carrying the cargol kit
