im hoping to do mine soonish so i can do a few trips up to the midlands on the runner. one of my shocks is fucked and wont dampen well so the other shock makes the rear end like a pogostick as its fighting it all the time.

Just replaced mine and I'm struggling to get the spring that mounts to the silent block and the frame back on...

Any tips?

Hook it on the top mount, then use a cabletie made into a hoop and pull it down and onto the bottom one, tricky but works.

I remember getting mine replaced on my old black gts that had done about 17k miles and also passing on info from Cheeky to my local dealers who'd obviously not done one before! My latest gts has less than 4k miles on the clock, typically how long does the engine mount last?

If not greased at PDI as they come dry... about 12,000miles if ya lucky... depends on how much its used and in what weather... ive never known a replaced set to fail which i put down to anyone i know who replaces them greases them.

i have finally done my engine mounts. total time about 4 hours but that included me being tired after starting at 5 yesterday only have 1 hour light left and doing it with a bed side lamp haha. i also fitted my shocks and fuel filter too

when i took the front part off the tube came straight out and it looked fine no rust bearings werent dead i thought bollocks. anyway finally took the front engine mount part off. after realising that i cant get to the bolts well without spinning the exhaust downpipe out the way and take the panels and air box snorkel off :D luckilly the airbox was already off because of the shocks. (loads of time wasted)

the front bar came out ok but it was rusty in the middle. the right hand bearing was fine but the bearing by the silent block the normal one to go had started breaking up. it wasnt all gone though so i gather i would have been in for a more bumpier ride haha

i need to know if the right rear shock will look slightly more flexed then the left as im worried my new shocks will get fucked at that angle

scoot feels good havent taken it far yet though. the rear shocks were shorter then my old ones so i doubled up the bushes to make up the room. is this ok (1 hard and 1 rubber bush on the bottom of each?)
