Interested in a good set of panniers. A bit on here about the Givi set.

Worried abou the bags scoring the bodywork.

Are they in direct contact with it? Can you get spacers for them? Would rear crash bars help (if they are available)?

Thanks :)

a few have had panniers and used this underneath them to stop the paintwork from being scuffed

a couple have found the wind resistance has badly affected top end speed.

what do you need to carry in panniers that can't be put in something like:-

many ways to carry something like that.........

I used something very similar on my Vintage red 250, but it was a fiver a roll from Wilkos ;), they advertise it as anto slip mat but essentially the same if not exactly the same stuff and I had no issues with them marking the paint.

The panniers did knock top end a bit, I used these Givi T427:-

I still have them and if your interested you can have them for £50 delivered, only used for a trip to Scotland 18 months ago

I have a set of panniers that I use on my Lammy,

I tried to set them up for the GTS and they just looked wrong!

They stick out far to much and sit at a weird angle because of the side bubbles.

Your better off using "A big red bag" on the rear rack with tent on top and a 35lt Dry Sack between your legs attached to the shopping bag hook! I can pack a blow up double mattress, x2 sleeping bags and 2 coats into a 35lt drysack!!!

That is exactly what I use for all rallies and I ride 2 up with the missus and all her shit! The pet carrier can be used for shoes, vodka, tools etc.

If you ride solo most of the time it would be worth fitting Motrax Hooks to your seat as well so you can use the pillion part for another dry bag if you need more gear! See this thread viewtopic.php?f=19&t=14

ps.........panniers & top boxes leak, dry bags don't!
