Two more months now till five of us reprobates from the west country go and visit the d-day beaches.

Our rough plan is to visit gold, juno, and sword - to include

Merville Battery
Pegasus Bridge
douvres radar station
Hillman strongpoint
Ouistreham
Longues Battery
underwater wrecks museum
cemetaries
Pointe du Hoc/ omaha if time permits

We staying in a really cool biker friendly guest house in Arromanches

Hopefully will do full report for the site if anyone is interested 8-)

Pegasus Bridge (Done, chat to the lady that owns the Cafe, her family owned it at the time of the invasion)
douvres radar station
Hillman strongpoint
Ouistreham
(Arromanches, Mulberry Harbour is worth a look, 360 degree cinema on the cliff too)
Longues Battery (Done, the only place with the guns still in the bunkers)
underwater wrecks museum
cemetaries (The American one at Omaha is impressive)
Pointe du Hoc/ omaha if time permits (Done, well worth a visit)
(St Mere Eglise is cool too)

Normandy Beaches B&B (Adrian in Arromanches)
http://www.normandybeach.co.uk/

Hortensia B&B (Andre in Ypres)
http://www.guesthouse-ypres.be/infoen.html

Both nice, ideal for scooters too and very friendly owners.

Bizarre innit!!

The correspondence i have had from him has been second to none, only too pleased to help and right up for some scooters turning up!

I didnt manage to do the 360 cinema last time so thats on the cards.

Pepy can you remember or recommend any good restaurants/bars in that area or is it just pot luck - I expect caen or bayeaux probably better for a bit of nightlife yeah ;)
